Name Alexander "The Unshakable Gecko" Carlisle
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality American
Description Young, tall, lean; dark hair and hazel eyes. Carries himself with a cat's grace.
Character notes

Alex was raised in Newark, New Jersey, the son of two affluent lawyers. His parents always encouraged him to excel in everything, and as a child Alex was on every school sport and extracurricular club available. His favorite sport was always wrestling however. As a child he had watched professional wrestling on TV and always dreamed about becoming a professional wrestler.

Wrestling became his life during high school, and his athletic ability he had worked hard to develop served him well. His perseverance earned him Captain of the Wrestling team his junior and senior years of high school. His focus on wrestling however soon caused his grades to slip, and in truth, he didn't care for academics at all, despite his parents constant hounding that he would never get into Law School, like they did, if he didn't consider his priorities.

Consider his priorities he did, because during the State Championships for High School Wrestling, Alex discovered something very odd about this skin. Although he had very little body hair to speak of, he did notice very small, colorless fine hairs that seemed to pop up every now and then. Alex dismissed it, but began to wonder when during the final wrestling match when he was fighting a larger wrestler (which was odd, for Alex was almost his full high and weight then) he found he was able to "stick" his palms onto the other wrestler, who couldn't shake Alex off him. Using this odd ability Alex was able to easily win the match and he considered this new turn of events for future use.

Alex discovered these sticky hairs could be extended and retracted pretty much at will (though to his annoyance when started they usually extend, sticking to him whatever he is touching momentarily). Intrigued by the prospects he entered the field of Championship Cage Fighting, under the alias, the "Unshakable Gecko."

As the name implied, Alex used his ability to allow him almost unmovable traction when planting his feet on the ground; the ability to grab onto his opponent and keep hold, allowing him to execute various moves and take-downs; and the ability to easily climb around the cage (even the top) which he used to jump down at his opponent. He was a hit and won many trophies, but suspicion among his opponents managers and rumors of "mutants" in the organization forced him to resign.

Not knowing what to do with himself at this point, Alex decided to investigate rumors of a mutant training center in New York.

Name Karen "Faith" Chekhova
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Russian
Description Short, slight; dark hair and crystal blue eyes. Wears unassuming clothing.
Character notes

Karen grew up in Moscow, maturing at an early age because of the conditions she lived under. Jarik, her adoptive father, was abusive toward her and they were frequently broke. She started working at a local pub to help support the two of them, though she was still a child.

Her mutant ability was activated at the age of twelve, after a fight broke out at the bar. Karen watched as one of her friends was fatally stabbed while trying to break it up. Defeated and holding her dying friend, Karen awakened her power and was able to heal her. Since she didn't understand how to control it, in doing so she sacrificed nearly all of her own life force. This left her body severely weakened, and since only Karen herself had seen it happen, she was left to figure it out alone.

One night Jarik slapped her for returning home late and scratched a side of her face in doing so. Moments later the wounds healed, and, completely terrified, Jarik warned her to leave and never return. Fed up and confused, Karen left Moscow and moved to London with three of her friends.

Over the years she found out more about her power and managed to keep others from knowing. When she was eighteen, Karen left London after she and her friends had gotten into trouble for drug-related activity. While they returned to Moscow, she headed for New York alone. It was a little over a year later that she was found and taken in by Professor Kaine, who was the only person she knew that could teach her more about her ability.

Name Mykayla "Miracle" Gorden
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Canadian, of Rumanian derivation
Description Long lilac hair; one brown eye, one green eye. Quite short in stature, frail; dresses in unadorned clothes.
Character notes

Mykayla was adopted from an orphanage in Rhumania when she was an infant. She grew up normally until a couple of months after her twelfth birthday, doing above average in her schooling and taking an active part in the activities of her parent's church. Then one day she woke to find that her hair had changed colour overnight. Her parents knew what it meant, but were accepting of her, treating her no differently than they ever had. The people at school for the most part didn't even realize that she'd mutated, not even the bullies that she touched and left feeling woozy (a fairly common occurance due to her mischievous nature).

Then, shortly after her sixteenth birthday, a gang of thugs ganged up on her as she walked home with a group of friends one night. Mykayla was brought to the hospital DOA. The people of her church, not knowing that she was dead and only hearing that she was in the hospital, started praying for her. That morning, at 4AM, the staff in the morgue was startled by frightened whimpers coming from one of the storage units. It was Mykayla, confused and dazed, unable to figure out what had happened to her. The doctors could only say that a miracle had occured.

She was soon out of the hospital and back at her parents' home, getting around with crutches due to permenant damage to her spine from the attack. Shortly after she came home, the same gang attempted a second attack. Her parents, frightened for her safetly, sent her away to a place they hoped that she would be safe, Proffesor Kaine's school for gifted youngsters.

Mykayla takes the fact that she was given a second chance very seriously. She believes that God 'sent her back' for a purpose, and she believes that that purpose is to stand up for His children who are born differently from the 'norm'.

Name Catrin "Enigma" Gruffydd
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality British (Welsh)
Description Long, wavy, auburn hair; amber eyes. Young and tall; dresses smartly. Exudes great strength of character.
Character notes

Born 18th November in Ynyslas, mid Wales, Catrin the only child to her parents Ioan and Lowri, was diagnosed soon after birth with cystic fibrosis. The Doctors said that although modern treatments had improved prospects for CF suffers many did not make it to adulthood and that Catrin’s parents, who owned a guesthouse on the seafront, should prepare themselves for her to die young.

As she grew, she suffered repeated bouts of pneumonia and bronchitis. She put on little weight, as her digestive system failed to produce important enzymes for digestion. This coupled with the fact that she was naturally tall meant that she always looked incredibly frail. And although it was true, Catrin was fragile – the slightest cold could develop into a life threatening infection - her appearance belied strength of spirit. Despite missing a lot of school through illness, Catrin’s grades were always above average. And of course her parents were overprotective and spoiled her terribly. Perhaps it was a combination of these things that made her the person she was as she struggled towards adolescence.

The newly teenage Catrin was a handful! She was beautiful, there was no denying that, with her pale skin, amber eyes and long dark lashes that cast shadows over her porcelain skin when she glanced down. She was just as pushy and insolent as she could be. She knew how to play people perfectly. She was manipulative, she was rude, she had a foul mouth, she was selfish, she was horribly spoiled and to top it all off she was brilliantly sneaky. She wore a perpetual snarl for the benefit of the world and yet despite all this people loved her. Perhaps it was because there was nothing malicious in her fearsome temper. She might rage against injustice, cut through the crap, but she didn’t mean to harm. Maybe it was because supporting that snarl was a light so bright, a force of spirit so fearsome that the very thought that it could be extinguished at anytime struck people as so unfair. It seemed almost everyone would forgive her almost anything.

Her powers developed at the age of 13. She was ill with a fever and had been confined to bed for two weeks. Such events were a normal everyday occurrence for Catrin, she was used to being ill for long periods. However, on this particular occasion she found it impossible to rest, so quickly were thoughts turning over in her mind. She tried to read, in the hope it would send her to sleep.

She finished the book in twenty minutes flat. She fished out some heavier reading. ‘War and Peace’ lasted about an hour. Amazed at this she crawled downstairs and picked up a copy of ‘the Times’ from the front lobby. She flicked to the Chess puzzle. She’d always been quite good at chess, but she found now that she could analyse every possible move for five moves in advance in a very short space of time.

This speed of thought had obvious advantages. It meant that she could keep on top of her schoolwork but it also meant that rest became difficult. Even when she tried to sleep she found it difficult to ‘turn off’. Catrin has been something of an insomniac ever since.

With her powers came a change in Catrin’s personality. Thinking so much, so fast gave her more time to consider others reactions and feelings. With her powers also came a quiet, deep-seated wisdom. Some also commented that she was more spontaneous – if that was possible – than before. But of course, Catrin was thinking about her actions the same as she always had just at an accelerated rate. Catrin, it seemed, almost over overnight put up a concrete wall to prevent her anger, her rudeness and her selfishness getting out. Her snarl was gone, but her intensity was not. Although not talkative, Catrin remains to this day prone to speaking her mind, pushy and determined, her temper when raised is white hot, as if to prove to the world that she has been given the wrong body.

Her sneaky nature suited her powers perfectly. Catrin had always been a consummate plotter, and now she could plot in the minutest detail at rapid speed. Chess and Risk quickly became her favourite games – her powers teamed with her skill in manipulating people meant that she never, ever lost.

Catrin attended Swansea University where she studied Computer Science. She excels at maths and is a natural pattern spotter. However, she has never been fond of physics as she finds it conceptually to abstract. She also speaks numerous languages, but her favourites are Welsh and Finnish. She can learn the vocabulary for any language at a vastly accelerated rate, but pronunciation and syntax are the sort of things that only come with practice, so Catrin doesn’t consider herself fluent until she has had two months of usage.

Upon graduation she joined a British government funded team of mutants where she functioned as the team’s tactician for three years, a role she was innately suited to. She took the codename Enigma as she is a natural code breaker. Through her missions with them she came into contact with Professor Kaine and when the funding was terminated Kaine contacted her and persuaded her to join his organisation. She requires physiotherapy most mornings to enable her to breathe correctly and is often ill.

Name Sato "Spectre" Hachitori
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Japanese
Description Mid-height, medium-heavy build; red-colored contacts. Dragon tattoo on back, Japanese characters translating to "burning sword" on upper right arm, Grim Reaper on chest.
Character notes

When Sato was born in Kyoto, his parents gave him away to an orphanage when he was born, as soon as they found out he was a mutant. His mother was strongly in favor of this, but his father thought it was cruel to treat a newborn like this. Before handing Sato over, his father left the orphanage with a sword, leaving instructions for Sato to be given this sword on his 10th birthday. On that day, Sato began his training with the katana.

The young man spent every moment in his room or in the garden of the orphanage training, but on the day he turned 18 he was forced to leave. With no money in his pocket and nowhere to go, he set out to find his parents. Two years later Sato found his parents in a small Tokyo apartment. Upon entering, his parents recognized him, and his mother tried to kick him out of the house once more. Sato's father tried to hold his mother back, but she was determined to stay way from her mutant son. Sato drew his sword and sliced open his mother's cheek, leaving a thin scar after it healed. He left the apartment, swearing that he would never venture back again.

Sato drifted alone around Tokyo for quite a while, searching for odd jobs here and there, living on the street as he honed his mutant power of astral travel. Sato carried his sword with him always, and when he visited the tattoo parlor to get his dragon tattoo, he was forced to defend himself from members of the Japanese Yakuza, who thought Sato, only 20 at the time, was a weakling. Sato sliced them up, sending only one back to his boss, delivering the message that he was looking for work. As the Yakuza member left, he muttered "burning sword", and Sato immediately got it tattooed on his arm.

Thee days later the Yakuza found him and brought him in to their lair in Tokyo. Sato fought for his life against the most brutal of the country's fighters, winning every fight with his legendary sword, which he named "Burning Destiny". He was employed by the Yakuza for another three years until he moved to the United States, setting up residence in New York City, NY, where he now works as a teacher at a local martial arts dojo.

He keeps a deep-seeded hatred for all other mutants, as he feels that they are the reason that he was abandoned in the first place. Sato constantly searches for mutants across the world, especially when they gather in large places. At first, the reason was for revenge, but he eventually gave up that idea in exchange for learning to understand their purposes. Now he seeks his brothers and sisters out for understanding and reasoning, not execution. Sato believes that there are many more mutants destined for that fate. His latest target for exploration: Kaine's Mansion.

Name Simon "Wire" Mac
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality American
Description Young, athletic, with blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. Carries himself with style and attitude.
Character notes

Simon had a good family life. His father was a computer programmer, one of the many who made millions during the dot.com frenzy, so money was never a problem. Simon went to a private school, where he excelled in his classes, and was a member of the school gymnastics team and judo club. He took it for granted that things would always be that way.

The tech crash pulled the rug out from under his feet. What seemed like overnight, his father’s business imploded and creditors were pounding at the door. Rather than see his comfortable lifestyle slip away, Simon sought a quick fix to his family’s misfortune.

He had engaged in a number of petty crimes with his friends before, stealing cars and breaking into stores, looking for a thrill. His ability to control electricity, which he had discovered years ago but kept hidden from his family, had always given Simon an edge over his friends in their games of one-upmanship. It was an edge he decided to make serious use of now.

He robbed a bank.

It was child’s play. Simon got away clean, but the rush of success, the thrill of taking a big risk had him hooked. For two years, he struck at whim, robbing businesses, the homes of the wealthy, even a museum.

A week ago, a man came to visit. His name was Dr Joseph Kaine. He had detailed information on all the heists that Simon had pulled. Given the choice between going with this man to ‘learn to make something of himself beside others with similar special qualities’ or going to jail, Simon decided that option 1 was vastly preferable.

Name Jacen "Force" Maclay
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Australian/American
Description Average height and build, hazel eyes and wild brown hair. Nondescript clothes, celtic pendant around neck. Free spirit.
Character notes

Jacen was born in Australia along side his younger twin sister. The two were incredibly close. So when their parents divorced when they were 6 they would not be separated and didn’t only live in two separate houses, but countries as their father returned to his homeland of America.

Time passed as he lived between parents travelling with his sister. His father remarried they gained a step-mother and step-sister neither of which he could stand. His father however loved them and he tried to make it work but his father seemed to care more about his new family then he ever did about him and his sister, or his mother. Jacen severed all ties with him and took his mother’s name of ‘Maclay’ he was 14 at this time, the same time things began to change.

It started in small ways like his foot getting stuck to the pavement and being unable to move it, thinking he was stuck by gum but no gum was there. Or his hand got stuck on a glass that he couldn’t let go. It started happening more frequently and it scared him he didn’t know what was happening.

He was studying in Biology one day rewading about Human cells, he always excelled at Biology and thought he could learn more by seeing the cells so he took a sample of his own blood and looked through a microscope. His cells were differen’t though. Only slightly but he knew enough to know they were different like a genetic fault he wasn’t sure what it meant but he kept it a secret.

When he was 18 he moved back to America to go to college in California, he was studying micro-biology mainly because of what he had seen that day he wanted to understand it. He had been exercising his gift for a while now and one night when he was fixed to the roof of his dorm meditating his Professor came in wanting to talk about a paper he’d written. He fell and things didn’t go well his Professor knew what he was and was part of an organization who were performing experiments on his kind. He was captured and taken to one of there facilities he stayed there for weeks maybe? Months? He couldn’t tell. Eventually though he was rescued by a group of others like him and taken to the institute where he could finally learn to control his gift. He was lucky no damage was done to him during his time at the facility he was able to recover and now lives a relatively peaceful life alongside those like him. His thoughts often stray to his sister though? Did she also had powers and he feared more then anything she was at a place like the one he’d been rescued from.

Name Rune "Rune" Madison
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality American
Description Tall, earthen beauty with curly brown hair, brown eyes and a calm demeanor.
Character notes

Rune was born in Chicago to a well off family, her father was a partner in a law-firm and her mother was a secretary. Rune herself was something off an outcast and a rebel, her power manifested itself when she turned thirteen, at first it was really weak. It took a lot of concentration just to possess a finch for twenty seconds (unless she was really emotional) but as she used it more it became stronger, until she lost control of it completely. Now it takes concentration to stay in possession of her own body.

When she turned fourteen she finally confessed her secret to her parents, they didn’t take the news well so Rune ran away before they could get around to kicking her out. She hitchhiked her way to Nevada, becoming a pickpocket to get money along the way, and upon arrival met another mutant named Gabriel who was the best there was at gambling, thieving, and cheating. Gabriel took her under his wing and taught her everything he knew about what he did until she became second only to him. She stayed with him and worked the casinos in Las Vegas for three years (earning him a small fortune) , in which time she became his go-to girl. She delivered packages and collected money for him, (she assumed whatever she delivered was illegal but she never asked and Gabriel never offered an explanation) and used her power to get into peoples' houses and steal anything worth something to Gabriel.

Professor Kaine met her in the streets one day when she had tried to brush past him and take his wallet. Needless to say she didn’t succeed, and when he made the offer to her to join him at his institute and maybe learn to control her power she took it up in a heartbeat.

Name Grace "Iris" Marcourt
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality American (Northwestern, Wisconsin)
Description Young, tall, slim; close-cropped, white-blond hair. Dresses in earthy clothes; long skirts and natural cotton tops.
Character notes

On September 23rd, Autumnal Equinox, a baby girl was born to Linda and Scott Marcourt at the Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, Wisconsin. Her small, bright eyes and shock of blond hair were the first things to be noticed. Next to be noticed, however were her interesting genes. The trend at the time had been to do prenatal testing to determine the presence of the X-gene, the gene that causes mutations. This procedure had inherent dangers, and after two failed attempts to conceive and carry a child to successful delivery, the young Marcourts had been postponing the test. The news that their child carried the mutation-causing gene was both devastating and humiliating to Scott, a second shift foreman at the Galaxy paper mill. He flew into a rage, attacking two nurses and a doctor. He vowed never to receive either mother or child into his home again, falsely attributing the genetic mishap to his wife’s side of things.

Linda, a career bound corporate CPA, was shaken but not devastated by the loss of her husband. Their marriage had been on the rocks for some time, slowly chiseled away by their inability to reproduce. Where Scott had been prejudiced and irrational with fear, Linda had been sober and practical. She knew in her heart of hearts that she would not be able to raise this mutant child. Additionally, she was afraid of the consequences of not only single motherhood, but single motherhood of a mutant child, one she might come to hate and fear.

Much to Scott and Linda’s relief a group stepped forward to take custody, and soon afterwards legal guardianship of the child, who by that time had come to be called Grace. Grace has no knowledge of her biological parents or their prejudices.

The group turned out to be a strange mix of mutants, Native Americans, and hippies who share a commune in the woods of northwestern Wisconsin. There Grace was given several new names. There she grew up with other children, some with secondary mutations, others with none. The elders of the “tribunal” instilled in them a love and respect of nature; defense of all living things, especially those that are unable to defend themselves, a code of morality and ethics, and a general sense of harmony with all things.

Grace “came into her own” on June 3rd, of her fourteenth year of her being. At that time she was gathering mushrooms with several of the smaller “kinder” of the tribunal. One of the children was crossing a dirt path when suddenly a dirt bike came out of nowhere, bearing down on her. Grace would say she doesn’t remember what happened next. Instead of speeding to the rescue and pulling the child away from danger, she sped into the side of the dirt bike causing the rider, the bike, and herself, the be carried over the opposite side of the trail and down a steep embankment. The children ran back to the commune where they got help. The young rider’s broken right arm was set, and he was taken back to the village by some of the male tribunal. A nasty blow to the head knocked out Grace but she seemed to recover fully in a day or two.

There was a great ceremony held in Grace’s honor, as is with all children who manifest some mutant power. Again the elders gave her a new name, Tadewi, which is wind in the language of the Omaha. From that time on, she was encouraged to run, as far, as fast, and as often as she could. She took to running through the forests, sometimes following the wild wolf, sometimes, running with the packs of dogs from the commune. Speed and running have become a natural part of Grace and are instinctual.

For this reason she had been instructed in Tai Chi and Zen mediation by her somewhat mentor Harold. Harold is a non-mutant hippy who has lived at the commune for almost thirty years, since his days at the University of Berkley, CA. Harold’s primary tribunal name is Pohd-Lohk, which is old wolf in the language of the Kiowa. Harold often has acted as Grace’s mother figure. He often calls grace Neenah, not only because it is where she was born, but because it means running water in the language of that regions native people.

It was Harold that first contacted Professor Kaine, a colleague of his in the arena of Mutant Research. Harold was becoming increasing concerned that the use of Grace’s new found power were causing her increasing amounts of pain, not only in the form of migraine headaches but also in her joints. Additionally, Grace had started to become somewhat distant, running the woods at all hours, disrespecting the elders, and so forth. Professor Kaine, seeing the potential in such a candidate agreed to take Grace with him to New York.

Grace knows of and has used some technology like computers, toilets, stove and refrigerator, etc. But some technology and cultural items are foreign to her or deemed unimportant by her people, such as fast food, elevators, cars, etc.

So from the age of six months her nineteenth birthday, two weeks ago, Grace had been living the life of your average commune dweller, if there is such a thing. Although Grace had lived her entire life among other mutants, their mutations were non-useful for the most part, and were not considered “powerful”. The abilities, which Grace is endowed, are largely unknown to her as are there applications. Now she’s just a small commune girl in the big city.

Name Ramada "Chrysalis" Kali Mardin
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Indian
Description Of average height and build; long, straight-cut black hair with dyed blue ends. Light blue eyes. Pierced nose & navel. Dresses stylishly and has a lively demeanor.
Character notes

Born 27 November in New Delhi, India, Ramada began her life as the only daughter of Abu and Siva Mardin, a pair of affluent doctors. Carrying the blue-eyed indication of her father's British heritage (she herself is one-quarter English), she was born into a society where she was considered a lesser person for being a girl in a largely patriarchal society. She grew up with an insatiable need for knowledge, a child genius of sorts, and her parents' profession ensured that there was no lack of money for education in the sciences, as even at the age of nine, she was beginning to show an interest and take classes in both biology and chemistry. It was the intention of her parents that Ramada follow in their footsteps regardless of what the accepted norm in society may have been.

However, when a series of physical changes (first the appearance of the red ring in her eyes, then the fading-to-blue of the ends of her hair) began to manifest themselves, Ramada's mother began to resent her daughter, knowing exactly what the change meant, becoming aloof and avoidant, despite Ramada's continued academic successes. The result was a very tense household that seemed on the brink of collapse; Siva's prejudice and Abu's subsequent determination to remain tolerant of his daughter began to drive a rift into what had been for a time, a stable family life. Siva had even gone so far as to conceive another child, a girl named Amita, with the intention of 'replacing' her firstborn daughter should she turn out to be a mutant. (Amita was born one month before the emergence of Ramada's power, and it is not yet known if she is a mutant herself.)

The collapse finally occured on the April that Ramada was thirteen years old, and in a supplementary science class. Due to the use of outdated machinery and faulty wiring, as she was working on an extra-credit assignment with one of her teachers, the Bunsen burner exploded, and in a frenzied rush to avoid being impaled by the flying apparatus, Ramada changed her own shape, turning to a liquid-like state, allowing a two-foot long retort stand to simply pass through her. The ensuing blackout left her confused; and to make matters worse she had manifested her mutant power in front of her teacher, who instantly relayed the news to her mother.

Without her husband's knowledge or permission, Siva ordered Ramada to leave the household, which she did without question, considering the gradual implosion of her home comfort. However, she was not lost to the streets, for Abu, while not having the societal means to overturn his wife's decision, opted instead to send Ramada to his home state of Kerala, arranging for her to stay full-time in the kalari (a training school for the martial art) where she had spent her summer vacations training. It seemed an ideal set-up, but Siva had taken one final step to ensure that Ramada would never return to their doorstep.

A gang had been hired with orders to kill Ramada, and once she herself was aware of this, she fled the kalari after only two full years there, returning to New Delhi with the hope of losing them. However, they managed to corner her in a back alley, subjecting her to beating and rape, leaving her for dead. Perhaps only through sheer will, she managed to survive her attack and began going from one ashram to the next, trying to heal her mind and find her father. Part of the solace came with her ability to control her power; a power she has found multiple uses for. She was faced with her tormentors again at the age of sixteen, and made quick work of them out of revenge, killing all five of her attackers.

It was then that luck manifested itself for Ramada. A group of Hindu mystics took her under their wing, gave her the name of Kali (after a Hindu goddess, a name which she still retains) and she began an intense period of regaining her strength, her spirituality (which is still to this day a major part of her life), and her academic prowess. On a whim, and perhaps influenced by growing anti-mutant sentiment in India, Ramada was given the monetary means to immigrate to the United States. She settled in New York City, and after taking aptitude tests that proved her intense intelligence, was accepted directly into a private science institution. She flew through an undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral curriculum in less than five years, gaining a PhD in biochemistry, and earning money through pharmaceutical commissions. Still, she felt unnerved by the obvious dislike of people like her.

One of her professors, a mutant sympathizer, referred her to one Joseph Kaine, who offered her a place to work from, and a safe place to stay two years into her university studies. She accepted Kaine's offer, and has been living at the Haven for almost four years. Her vague intentions to leave the Haven were cut short not too long ago, when Kaine insisted that she stay, for reasons that are only now beginning to come clear.

Name Maria "Mariposa" Lupe Perez
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Columbian
Description Short; long black hair, green eyes. Very young. Graceful and lithe.
Character notes

Maria was born into a wealthy family in Columbia. Her mother died due to complications after giving birth to her, so she never knew her mother. Her father is a Columbian drug-lord and he spoiled her rotten. She also has two brothers, Richard and Marco. Richard despises her for being their father’s favourite, while Marco gets along with her just fine.

When she was 18 she was having a romantic relationship with one of the guys in her dance class. Her father didn’t approve, but she continued to see him anyway. Her brother Richard found out about the the intimacy between Maria and Antonio (the dancer) and confronted her about it. Maria’s power was discovered when Richard slapped her across the face. He was surprised that he had a sensation on his cheek where he had just slapped Maria. He hit her a few more times with the same result. He then ran to their father with his discovery.

When her father was informed he was furious. He slapped Maria, and was as surprised as Richard of the sensation on his cheek. He then kicked Maria out of the house and told her to get away and never step foot in Columbia again. She knew that he was serious and he had the power to get her killed.

She then moved to Manhattan, where she spoke no English and didn’t have much of an education so she couldn’t get half-decent job. She ended up gettting a job as an exotic dancer. This is where she learned English. Her boss and the other dancers taught her how to to speak English in their spare time. She still has trouble with her English and if she is frustrated or angry she’ll start speaking Spanish again.

Maria met Kaine for the first time while walking down the street by her apartment. He informed her of what he was doing and asked if she would join his team of mutants. She didn’t even have to think about it. The next morning she packed up her stuff and moved to Haven.

Name David A. Thanter
Creed Mutant
Affiliation Meta X
Nationality Israeli
Description Middle age, brown hair, tall and of medium build. Extensive scarring, most noticeably on his right arm. Tough guy attitude.
Character notes

David grew up in a hostile environment, surrounded by those disgusted by him and his mother, who had conceived a child from an American soldier, thereby making her son a mixed-breed in the eyes of those around him. He learnt to fight those who disapproved of him, to rebel in his own way towards the rigid society that attempted to cast him and his out. Soon, however, this lead to widespread forced seclusionism for his mother and himself, forced to live uncomfortably in a Palestinian refugee camp. Unbeknownst to David, his mother was forced to whore herself in order to survive.

When David was ten, his mother was murdered by a "customer" in front of his eyes, their ramshackle house was destroyed, and he was wounded, giving him the scarred arm he still carries, while someone left a sign to warn off other Jews who would settle the area, threatening certain death. This fostered his intense hatred of Palestinians, which would develop over the years to come.

The only way for him to live was to make his way back to Jerusalem, no small feat for a child of only ten years. He did this by stowing away on a military truck, and while he was there he "liberated" a fallen knife, keeping it ever since. It became his tool as a thief and his weapon as a murderer on the streets of the Holy City, where he gained a reputation as a deadly fighter among the other urchins at twelve.

At fourteen, a car bomb was set off in a small cafe where he was collecting from a business partner. His latent mutant abilities surfaced, and he managed to quell the flames yet could not stop the debris that horridly scarred the left side of his torso and back. Beside himself with rage, drawing parallels to his experience at ten, his hatred became apparent when he turned a refugee camp into ashes, taking the lives of one hundred and twenty Palestinians, consisting of men, women, and children.

He enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces when he was 18, intending on escaping the street life with his life. In four years time, he had earned the rank of Corporal, and the admiration of his superior officers for his amazing mility proficiency, and the unknown attention from Mossad recruiters, who noticed his incredible intelligence lurking underneath his facade of ignorance and anger.

He re-enlisted after his compulsory four years were completed, and signing up for te IDF's special forces, the Sayeret. He graduated with the highest marks ever earned in the last twelve years of the elite groups existence. He was immediately grabbed and placed in the most presitgious group, where after but a few missions, he had made a lasting impression on his friends as a cold-blooded killer. This, however, was exactly what the superiors wanted, and recommended him to Mossad.

After only two years in the Sayeret, he was transferred to the Metsada division of Israel's intelligence force, where he continued to impress some and horrify others. He was known as an agent who did as he was told, no matter the consequences or collateral damage he might inadvertently or purposely arrange. They later arranged him to work as a field collections agent, in Germany, proving he was as capable of spying as well as he was at killing. He returned to Israel, before being assigned to the Iranian regional desk.

Eventually, the British MI-6 requested his expert abilities to train their own assassins, saboteurs and spies in their country. He was sent to them, and did as was requested, training the teams that were later considered the best available to the British government.

When he was thirty, he decided to settle down. He had made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his days, but instead did tasks for Mossad, yet this time as an "independent contractor".

He received a call from Dr. Kaine from the United States, a man who was considered the leader of the Mutant rights movement. He invited David to a meeting regarding the future of mutants in the world. Flattered at the request, David accepted.
