ZOMGBahamut!

Last week Rose got the urge to splurge; I love it when she gets the urge to splurge, except when that urge coincides with my birthday. One year, she bought me about 50 outdated National Geographic magazines -- with handy leather display cases -- because she figured I like pretty pictures. I think I may've told you that already, however, at some point in the past. I just felt it needed restating.

...

It's okay, Rose. I do like pretty pictures.

Anyway, what this is really all about is Final Fantasy X. Rose bought a PS2 for, like, 130$ (the dollar sign goes on the other side, Rose, I know, but I don't care; it makes more sense to me when it's on the right) at EB and the night she brought it home we played FFX 'till about 1AM. She bought FFX2, as well as Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 in addition to FFX, but we haven't started those yet. I was never a fan of the FF series, mainly because the plot never makes sense, the characters look ridiculous, and the numerical values are so huge they lose all meaning. This time, though...this time I'm actually enjoying it. The characters are palatable and the plot is okay(ish); I still have problems with the numbers, but I'm willing to put them aside 'cause everything else is really enjoyable. The summoning aspect of it is kinda Pokémon-esque, but it's (at the same time) pretty engaging; kicking some other summoner's ass in pet-to-pet combat is surprisingly awesome!

Totally.

I'm still drowning in work at the office; only two weeks of Hell left, then my schedule will be back to normal (read: slightly less hellish). Happily, my August Halifax vacation is coming up in a couple months!

Rose and I further discussed the THING. We actually found a THING (somewhat) and are currently trying to work with it. I'm particularly proud of the format and (forthcoming) execution of said THING, but I don't think we'll be sharing it with you yet. We're gonna incubate it a little longer. Just in case it hatches and becomes horrific. Less gore to scrub off the walls that way, wouldn't you agree?

I've heard mixed reviews about X3 lately; I'll have to go see it for myself (hopefully soon; Rose's computer's broken again and my friend the Techno God Peter is gonna help her hook herself up with a new machine -- we'll go see the movie then). Apparently Professor X dies; that makes me really angry. That guy is awesome; why is it every time I decide I like a fictional character, he or she dies? My penchant for villains notwithstanding, I still think it's unfair. I suppose I should be happy the trend affects the fictional folks I like rather than the real ones, LoL.

*hangs head* I didn't get Hepzibah to level 40 in Warcraft, BTW. Instead, I played my rogue and got her up to level 45. It wasn't a total waste, though, 'cause Rose's priest came along for the ride and reached level 37. Also: we got a unique item from the Gurubashi Arena! Amazing! We only had to get assaulted about 400 times by a level 60 troll rogue who was 'just having fun', but it was worth it.

You'll note that today's date is 6/6/6 -- mwahahaha! My coworker just put up a poster with Emo haircuts on it that says: "If you have one of these haircuts, expect a punch in the face today." Sweet. It's apparently Punch an Emo Kid Day, as well as International Slayer Day. Motherload! Apparently groups of religious folks all around the world will hold prayer gatherings in order to counteract the evil of this day. Isn't that wild?
