After a huge hiatus, I've started reading again -- kind of. I've gone back to my lost love
Bertrand Russell, more specifically to an anthology of his that I bought two years ago during a
trip to the Shakespeare festival. The book's OK and kinda reads like a Nietzsche volume (which
is not to say that the ideas presented therein share even a remote similarity), but it's
still good and satisfies my crackwhore-esque need for subjective analysis.
My friend Peter says Blizzard is potentially working on Diablo III. I would've gotten shrill
and accused him of playing with my emotions, but he averted that crisis by sending me a link to
an article instead of sending me actual text in his email body. The article basically said that
Blizzard has some interesting job postings on its site lately, and that they mention the DI and
DII dev teams once or twice. If they make a Diablo MMORPG, I'm gonna find some way to get
long-term sick leave.
Lots of family stuff coming up for me in the next couple weeks. It's so odd how, at the start of
the year, a whole bunch of family gatherings and friend gatherings occur all at the same time. It's
nice, but tiring after a while. On the upside, my brother's birthday is coming up soon! My brother
is so god damned funny, I love kicking around with him.
My friend from college is gonna be a daddy! It's so bloody unreal when friends get married/have
kids; maybe it's just me, but I find it's a total paradigm shift every time I hear of it. In this
case, I'm particularly interested because the father is a guy I probably should've gotten off
my ass and dated while I had the chance (not that I want a kid -- I actually hope I never breed -- I
just think the guy is awesome). Dah well, such is life. On the upside, science! I'll get to ask a
whole boatload of totally inappropriate questions about the kid's development and not feel a shred of
discomfort.
Rose and I created a private forum on FS Connect where we can just write freely. It was a weird
idea I brought up a couple weeks ago and that she was willing to go for, and so far it's been really
fun. Maybe someday, should something worthwhile come of it, we'll share it with you guys.
Also, we finished LoK: Defiance. Alright: after watching some of the FMVs at the end of the game
over and over again and giggling like a schoolgirl, I can honestly say that I don't understand how
someone could play the game and go on believing that Kain and Raziel aren't a couple. An
interesting bit of trivia that may get you thinking: the series is written and produced by a couple
women. You go, ladies! You tear that vamp crown from Anne Rice's head! I heard one
of the women left the company, though, and I can only hope the shoddy message board community I read
that off of is wrong.
Stupid shit: I bought a sexy MAC keyboard for my PC and I LOVE it. It's so HOT. The length of my
fingernails makes me sound like a neglected dog walking on ceramic tiles when I type, but the keyboard
itself is still HOT.
